Tuesdays 4-5pm (EST)

Who:
For Students in Grades 7-9 who have an interest in telling stories.

Location:
Zoom (with possibility for in person classes )

Cost:
$45 per student

Class Size:
In order for the course to be worth the instructor’s time she needs at least 5 students, with a max of 10.

– Pen or Pencil
– Imagination
– Zoom and a Working Webcam

Course Description & Details

Note: The instructor is a Christian, and will bring Christian elements into the lessons.

Over the course of 8 weeks we will go over several writing topics, with the final project and main goal being for each student to write a short story using the principles learned in class.

Some topics will include:
-Types of Plots
-Receiving and Giving Critiques
-Why Stories are Important
-Writing Conflict
-Character Roles

Prerequisites:

Some course assignments will require having read or watched at least one of these on the list.
Books:
– Any book of the Chronicles of Narnia (if there’s nothing on this list that the student has read or watched they should at least read one of these)
The Hobbit
Oliver Twist
The Lord of the Rings
– Any book of The Wingfeather Saga
Movies:
The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe
The Voyage of the Dawn Treader
Wall-E
Toy Story 1, 2, 3, or 4
Cinderella (classic or remake)
Beauty and the Beast (classic or remake)
The Lord of the Rings
Kung Fu Panda (it has clear examples of story roles and plot)
